“Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes stole the limelight with a both fascinating and fabulous set”

“Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes were hugely impressive with their great songs and Lachlan’s stage presence”

Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes are one of Australia’s finest country bands. In fact, they’ve been bridging the gap between country music and alt-country/Americana for around eight years now.

Built around the storytelling songs of frontman Lachlan Bryan and the sensitive playing of permanent members Shaun Ryan and Damian Cafarella, the band has developed a sound that is at once accomplished and rough around the edges. They know how to ‘leave the dirt on’ in all the right ways and have carved a niche that is completely their own – two parts classic country, one part blues and roots and all soul.

Whether it’s Lachlan the solo storyteller and raconteur, the core trio of Lachlan, Shaun and Damian or the full ‘family band’ with members including Andy Wrigglesworth, James Gillard, Shanley Del, Laura Coates, Imogen Clark and Seamus O’Sullivan (just to name a few), there is something unique about every performance which, along with the eclectic catalogue of songs, makes these guys one of Australia’s hardest acts to pin down.

Lachlan Bryan began writing songs at the age of twenty, inspired by a musical family, a cupboard full of old country records and a teenage obsession with Tom Waits. First record ‘Ballad of a Young Married Man’ sounded a lot like an indie band playing country music – and drew tremendous praise from music writers. Subsequent releases Shadow of the Gun, Black Coffee and The Mountain have seen Lachlan explore all corners of the country music sphere – the latter two rewarded with Golden Guitar victories and nominations and a Music Victoria Award for Best Country Album.

In recent years Lachlan and the band have played with artists from all over the world including Steve and Justin Townes Earle, Shawn Colvin, Joan Armatrading, Albert Lee, John Hiatt and more. They’ve played on a swag of major country and roots festivals and continue to build a following in the USA and Europe – signing to New Orleans roots label Milo Records and recently making a spectacular European debut at The Maverick Festival.

In early 2018, Lachlan and The Wildes will release album #4 (their second with ABC), return to Europe and the USA and tour Australia more heavily than ever before.

First single ‘The Basics of Love’ – a duet with ARIA winner Shanley Del, is available now.
