The Basics of Love

Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes have today released the debut single from their forthcoming new album. The single, The Basics of Love is a duet with ARIA award winner, Shanley Del.

One of Australia’s finest country bands, Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes have been bridging the gap between country and alt-country/Americana music for the past eight years. Built around the storytelling songs of front-man Lachlan Bryan, the sensitive playing of permanent members Shaun Ryan and Damian Cafarella and an assortment of regular ‘special guests’, the band has developed a sound that is at once accomplished and rough around the edges.

Lachlan and Damian co-wrote The Basics of Love with Melbourne songwriter Nia Robertson and it made sense to record it as a duet. Shanley Del, who describes Lachlan’s writing as “moody and smart”, seemed like the perfect collaborator.

“Nia had the original idea for the song and I loved it immediately. It’s kind of like a scene from an old film – just a moment in time where a couple of characters are replaying all their mistakes in their heads. They’re at the bar together, but they’re very much alone – for now.” – Lachlan Bryan.

The band will release their much-anticipated fourth album in early 2018, after two years of touring extensively through Europe and the USA, whilst continuing to hold court on the festival circuit in Australia.

Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes have announced a small run of tour dates to coincide with the release of The Basics of Love. 2018 dates, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, will be announced soon.
